Bear by Geri Schrab
This is an original watercolor by Wisconsin artist Geri Schrab. She is known for using petroglyphs and pictographs as inspiration for her art. She has traveled around the United States and create works from different sites. This piece is from her Wyoming Series. It shows a bear standing on its hind legs with enormous paws and claws. The depiction certainly makes sense from the perspective of a hunter confronted with such a large and dangerous animal. Please read the Artist Statement that is included in the images for more information. The watercolor is 5 3/8 x 4 inches. It is signed in pen lower right. It is archivally framed and matted. The frame choice compliments the image beautifully. The frame size is 11 5/8 x 10 1/2 inches. It is in pristine condition although it has not been examined out of the frame. A wonderful work by this contemporary artist.
