Floraison I by Terry Haass

Tereza (Terry) Haass (1923- ) was born in Cesky Tesin (Czechoslovakia). She studied art and art history in Paris until her departure for New York in 1941. She received a scholarship from the Art Students League and lived in New York until 1951. She was associated (from 1946) with the Atelier 17 of Stanley William Hayter, where she worked with Will Barnet, Zadkine and Calder. After being awarded a Fulbright foundation and Woolley scholarships for the study of printmaking, she went to Paris in 1951, where she began studying at the famous Atelier Lacourière & Frélaut and worked with a plethora of artists including Miró, Chagall, Masson and Picasso. In addition to printmaking, she moved into sculpture and also spent time as an archeologist.
