Minerva, Prometheus, and Pandora by Henry Moore

This is a color lithograph from a portfolio titled Prométheé. It was the first portfolio by Moore and dates from 1950. Moore had been asked to create illustrations for a translation of Prométheé by Goethe. As part of this project Moore created a portfolio of 8 full page color lithographs that featured figural work that is very typical for Moore at this time. The portfolio was printed in an edition of 183. Unfortunately, it did not sell well. Fortunately many of these pieces have survived. They are beautiful examples of his work.
The piece is in excellent condition with no fading. It has nice vintage frame and matting. No evidence of any damage. It may be laid down (the mats are certainly glued together), but there is no damage to the lithograph. This is an excellent example of his work.
