Laszlo Dus (1941 - ) Laszlo Dus (or Dús László in Hungarian) is a Hungarian-American artist. Born in Zalaegerszeg, Hungary, he was a noted artist in his native country before moving to the United States in the 1970s. He attended the Fine Art High School, Budapest followed by the Academy of Fine Arts, where he was a student of Aurel Bernath. He founded the Egervár Artists’ Colony. He splits time between the colony and his home in Los Angeles, CA. He is a modernist, preferring abstract, colorful geometric images. He works in multiple media including painting, and printmaking with emphasis on monotypes and lithography. His works are generally smaller in scale.
He has had extensive one-man exhibitions in Europe. His work in held in several major collections including the National Gallery of Art, the Renwick, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Chicago Art Institute, and the Smithsonian Museum of American Art. He won first prize of the National Drawing and Print Competition of the Oklahoma Art Center (1978) and Special Prize of the Colour Print Exhibition, Szekszárd (1994).
