Un Simple Cri by Georges Dussau

This is an etching with embossing by the prolific French artist Georges Dussau. It is very typical example of his work. He superimposes chaotic geometric shapes that explode from the image on a more serene background of color. Gray and pastel purple is a frequent combination. The title of the piece is Un Simple Cri (A Simple Cry). In this composition, the colorful geometric shapes are erupting from the lower right of the piece seemingly in response to a purple sun or planet in the upper left. Dussau also likes to create a surface to his printed work through the use of embossing. The top of the image has a pattern of circles and squares creating a rich texture that complements the bold colors. The meaning of the piece is left to the individual interpretation of the viewer. The image is printed to the edge of the sheet. It is signed in white chalk or pencil lower right. The title is given lower center and the edition lower left, 61/99. It is in pristine condition with bold colors and no fading, tears, paper loss, or stains. An excellent example of the artist's work.

The artist Georges Dussau was born on March 14 1947, Birth Chalon-sur-Saone, France. He is a prolific modern artist who works in most media.
