Polo by Ramon Price

This is a dynamic serigraph of three polo players going for the ball. The artist chooses to place the horses and riders on a black background rather than a green field that gives the piece a modern graphic feel.

Artist Bio: Ramon Price (1930-2000) From Chicago Tribune obituary
Ramon B. Price, an artist and chief curator at the DuSable Museum of African-American History and a half-brother of the late Mayor Harold Washington, died Thursday, Sept. 28.
... he formed an artists group that held functions to raise money and awareness for the mayor's campaigns.
In 1990, three years after Washington died of a heart attack in his City Hall office, Mr. Price oversaw an exhibition at the DuSable Museum that honored his half-brother.
Mr. Price, who never married, dedicated his life to art education and history. He was inspired in high school by his art teacher, Margaret Burroughs, who founded the DuSable Museum and was a lifelong friend.
"He was always ready to serve people and to educate people in African-American history," Gwen Price said. "That was his love."
Mr. Price was born on Chicago's South Side, where he graduated from DuSable High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a master's degree from Indiana University at Bloomington, where he also pursued coursework toward a doctorate.
He served as a Marine from 1954 to 1956 and was discharged as a corporal.
Mr. Price was an art teacher at DuSable High School from 1960-73, and for three of those years served as art department chairman. A painter and a sculptor, his works can be found in numerous collections. A bronze called "Monument to Black Pride" is part of the DuSable Museum's permanent collection.
Mr. Price also taught art history at Indiana University and introduced a course in African and African-American art history at George Williams College in Downers Grove.
