Red Cedar by C. Howard Church

This is an abstract woodcut titled Red Cedar by Midwest artist C. Howard Church. It's wonderfully rich and complex with dark black overlaying multiple colors. The artist also incorporates the grain of the wood in the image. As such it conveys and abstract expressionist quality. It is signed and dated lower right Howard Cook 64. The title is given lower center and it is designated an artist's proof lower left. It is in excellent condition. It is unframed. It is printed on a full untrimmed sheet. The sheet size is 19.25 x15.5 inches. The plate size is 17 x 11.5 inches. There are no condition issues. The colors are rich without fading. There are no tears, paper loss, staining, foxing, or mat burn. The paper is uniformly toned to a mild degree. There is some residual ink at the periphery, well away from the image. There are not many pieces by this artist around and few of these are prints. A fine work by this artist.
